Painting the Backdrop part 2

:: it's alway nice to have an audience ::

Here are shots of the backdrop for the dance. It is 55' x 15' and is painted on the floor of the dance school. It fills the back bay of the space and takes about 40 hours to paint. As it is painted on the floor I don't ever see it upright until it is on stage and so perspective is a wildebeast. If need be I will graph out the design and enlarge this onto the backdrop but usually the ballet bar has 7 divisions at the back of the room and I just divide it up. I use any paint that is waterbased, latex acrylic house paint and sometimes if we need really bright colors we have a supply of artist acrylics. My daughter has helped the last couple years. She was a great help this year and has a steady hand and a good eye.

:: even if your audience is very small ::
